Health care in Dubai is very advanced and both private and public establishments are of a very high standard. UAE nationals and expat residents are entitled to low-cost healthcare at government hospitals and clinics.
Private clinics and hospitals are also available. Dubai does not have separate doctor’s surgeries. All doctors are based in Hospitals and Clinics so that specialists are also on hand.
If you need doctor’s treatment or a consultation it is wise to book an appointment. However, even if you turn up you are likely to be seen fairly quickly. Waiting Lists are nowhere near as long as in some other countries and because of this, clean hospitals and highly specialised staff the healthcare system in Dubai is exceptional.
Emergency healthcare:
Emergency treatment is available to everyone in Dubai whether a tourist or resident and is free of charge. Any follow up treatment may be charged if you do not have a UAE medical card. (That you can apply for when you get Residency)

The Ministry of Health operates from Al Baraha Hospital.
Cost
Emergency treatment is free to all - including non-residents & tourists;
Government-run hospitals offer subsidized services for holders of medical cards.
Some employers may provide private medical insurance as part of an employment package. (although they are not obliged to provide this)
Many expats belong to private medical insurance organisations such as BUPA.

Dial a Doctor: A team of Western-qualified, multi-lingual (English, French, Dutch, Arabic) GPs. They accept calls 24 hours a day for all medical problems (acute or chronic) from all age groups. Pharmacies:
Some pharmacies are open 24 hours and they are dotted around Dubai and in just about all of the shopping malls.
Contraceptive pills (25AED per box) & antibiotics are sold over the counter and can be bought without a prescription.
